Lifandi landbúnaður - Grass root organisation of farm women in Iceland
The grass root organization of women in agriculture was established at a farm
women Conference in 2002. The organization is build up of 3 women in a board,
and 15 key- women, from all over the country , who lead a group of women around
them. The communications network currently includes about 300 women. The framework
established by the movement for itself have the object of promoting the role
of women in the farming community, strengthening the farming community and
agriculture as such, forging positive links between urban and rural communities
and ensuring that consumers of agricultural products are satisfied and well
informed. The principal emphasis is on constructing a communications network
which can be used to improve social and professional status of
woman in agriculture and gain equal gender right within the sector. |
